Change one letter at a time to turn the starting word into a hidden target word. Guess a letter for the highlighted row — right, and the next row opens up; wrong, and it flashes red.
Letters lock in green once they're guaranteed correct. Stuck? HINT shows which box to change. Just watch your clicks — the bar under the grid is your budget for this puzzle.
Each puzzle is a chain of 5-letter words. The top row shows the starting word — every step down changes exactly one letter to make a new valid word. The target word stays hidden until you solve it.
Click a letter box in the highlighted (active) row, then click a letter on the keyboard. Guess right and that row locks in as the next row opens up. Guess wrong and the box flashes red.
A letter turns green once it's locked in for good — guaranteed correct for every row still ahead, not just the current one. Occasionally a letter that matches right now will still need to change later, so it won't turn green until it's actually final.
The keyboard grays out any letter that doesn't appear anywhere in this chain. If a wrong guess flashes red in the rows below too, that letter's now ruled out down there as well — that's a clue, not a bug.
Stuck? Click HINT to highlight which box needs to change next — it won't reveal the letter.
Every guess and every HINT uses up a click. The bar under the grid shows how many you have left for this puzzle — solve before it runs out. Run out of clicks and the puzzle ends and your streak resets to zero; solve in time and your streak keeps growing.
Pick EASY, MEDIUM, or HARD up top — whichever you choose gets tougher automatically the more you play.
Good try, but we're looking for a specific word in each row.
You solved this in 0 clicks.

Phase 5's Duration is unused — once reached, that phase is permanent.
Click Limit is a placeholder column for the upcoming click-budget feature — not yet enforced in play. Floor is that row's n-Changes value.

On launch, the game automatically tries to load "config.js" from this folder — if it's not found, the built-in defaults below are used. STORE saves the current reuse window, first/last filter, all three phase tables, and the current Theme Lab palette under any filename you choose (only rename it to "config.js" if you want it to auto-load next time). LOAD reads any previously-saved file back in immediately, regardless of its name.
Applies instantly and persists in this browser (localStorage) across reloads, until you hit RESET. Text color on every swatch here is picked automatically (black or white) for contrast, whatever you choose. Drag by the title bar to move this panel.
